The Swartzendruber sisters are classically trained violinists, but their love of music extends to many different genres.
Abbey's musical journey with violin began in 2002 at a Christmas program in Tennessee. Ever since she began taking lessons at age 3, Abbey has sought to achieve excellence in mastering the violin - both technically and in presentation of performance. She is a member of the Lafayette Oxford University Symphony and has performed several times as a soloist with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and Starkville Symphony. Abbey has received 12 consecutive superior ratings from the National Federation of Music Clubs and was chosen by audition to participate in the Belhaven University All State String Orchestra. In 2017, Abbey and her sister, Gracie, performed with the Columbus Suzuki String Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Abbey is an alumnus of Liberty University and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In addition to making music on the violin, Abbey loves to play the piano and sing with her family and friends. Both she and her sister enjoy providing music for various events throughout the year including, weddings, churches, banquets, educational events, and more.
Gracie has been playing the violin longer than she can remember. Starting on a cardboard violin at nearly 3 years old didn't produce much audible music, but Gracie caught on quickly and received a real violin. Once she began formal lessons, Gracie excelled rapidly and grew in her passion to make beautiful music. While her training is classically-based, she enjoys many different styles of music and can often be found organizing her numerous music playlists. Gracie was pleased to have been a member of both the Lafayette Oxford University Symphony and Starkville Symphony for several years, with her favorite performances being Handel's Messiah and H.M.S. Pinafore operetta. Gracie has received 12 consecutive superior ratings from the National Federation of Music Clubs and was chosen by audition to participate in the Belhaven University All State String Orchestra for five years. She has held the position of Festival Cup Chairman for the Mississippi Federation of Music Clubs organization since 2023.
Gracie graduated summa cum laude from Liberty University class of '23, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, including a Finance cognate and a minor in Counseling. When not involved with the paperwork end of business, Gracie enjoys listening to music, organizing her numerous music playlists (have we mentioned that yet?), reading, cooking, researching random interests, and spending time with her people friends, furry friend (Minuet), and music friends (Little Baby Taylor, Hey Uke, and Mr. Cello).
